GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, Answered.
The important stuff, the island stuff, and a few things we’d rather answer here than 130 times.
ARE CHILDREN INVITED?
We love your children. We would also love for you to leave them at home. Our wedding weekend is adults only — consider this your excuse for a Nantucket weekend away.
CAN I BRING A PLUS ONE?
Your invitation is your answer. If their name is on it, we’d love to have them. If it’s not... please don’t make us have an awkward conversation. We beg of you.
WAIT — THE CEREMONY IS ON A BOAT?
Yes. Very on brand, we know. Ashley, Zac and our officiant will be aboard a Hinckley in Nantucket Harbor for the ceremony. If you have a boat and would like to watch from the water, you’re welcome to BYOB — Bring Your Own Boat. Absolutely no pressure. If you’d rather head straight to Great Harbor Yacht Club and get the party started, please do. We’ll make our entrance by boat and dock at the club after the ceremony.
I HAVE A BOAT. CAN I WATCH THE CEREMONY FROM THE HARBOR?
Yes! BYOB — Bring Your Own Boat. Just please tell us when you RSVP so we can coordinate accordingly. As fun as 100 boats descending on us sounds, Harbor Master Sheila Lucey does not need Ashley & Zac creating an international maritime incident on September 17th.
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A BOAT?
Then congratulations, you have one less logistical problem. Head to Great Harbor Yacht Club when doors open at 5:00 PM, grab a drink and get the party started without us. You’ll be able to watch us arrive by boat and dock at the club from the second-floor deck. You won’t be able to see the actual ceremony from the club, but we promise we’ll still be married when we get there.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER DOESN’T COOPERATE?
Ashley will be having a minor menty b, so we’d recommend giving her a little space. Kidding. Mostly. We’ll have a weather backup plan and will share details if we need to use it. Until then, we’re choosing not to put that energy into the universe.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Think editorial, chic, coastal cocktail. Nantucket, but make it fashion. For women, we’d love midi or floor length dresses, with color, prints and interesting silhouettes encouraged. For men, think polished summer cocktail attire with suits or sport coats, beautiful blues, lighter coastal tones and loafers. We’ve made an entire What to Wear inspiration page because apparently “just look chic” wasn’t specific enough. Ladies, heels are encouraged!
WHERE SHOULD I STAY?
In or near Nantucket Town. Trust us on this one. The wedding weekend is centered around Town and the harbor, and you’ll be able to walk to almost everything. We are not reserving a traditional hotel block, so book whichever hotel, inn or rental works best for you. And please, book early. Nantucket accommodations fill up quickly and tend to get more expensive, not less.
DO I NEED TO BRING A CAR?
Nope. We actually recommend leaving it on the mainland. If you’re staying in Town, you can walk most places, and taxis/Ubers are available when you need them. There is parking at Great Harbor Yacht Club, but this is very much intended to be a have-a-good-time kind of evening, so please plan accordingly and don’t drink and drive.
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY FERRY?
As soon as you know your travel plans. Seriously. September is still Nantucket season, and fast-ferry tickets can fill up. Hy-Line and Steamship both offer approximately one-hour passenger ferries from Hyannis.
WHAT’S HAPPENING AFTER THE RECEPTION?
We’re not going home at 10. After-party location: TBD. Everyone is invited. Bad decisions optional.
WHAT’S HAPPENING SATURDAY?
You tell us! Saturday is yours. Recover, explore the island, hit the beach, grab a Bloody Mary, or accidentally end up drinking with us again. No organized activities, we promise.
I HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY OR DIETARY RESTRICTION. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Tell us when you RSVP and we’ll make sure the team at Great Harbor Yacht Club knows.
WHO SHOULD I ASK IF I STILL HAVE A QUESTION?
Wedding questions, Ashley. Fishing or boats, Zac. Anything else, your best guess is probably Ashley.
Ashley & Zac are so looking forward to celebrating in Nantucket with the people they love most.
